It’s no secret around here that I absolutely adore TV. There’s no shame in this game because I enjoy it so much.
2016 has been an amazing year for TV. Here are my fave 2016 TV shows.
THIS IS US
This show is definitely considered a hit and I couldn’t be happier about that. It’s totally for fans of family dramas like Parenthood so if you loved that glorious show, I totally recommend this one, too. The cast is awesome (Mandy Moore and Jess!) and the storylines are beautifully crafted. It’s just the best.
Like everyone who grew up in the 90s, I loved Full House and pretty much watched it all the time. I tuned it for the first season of the Neflix revival back in February and spent a recent weekend happily watching the second season. It’s beautifully shot, beautifully acted, and has the same cheesy fun and corny laughter that you remember.
GILMORE GIRLS: A YEAR IN THE LIFE
Words can’t describe how excited I was that Netflix was making a revival of my beloved Gilmore Girls. My mom and I are super close and always felt that we were totally Rory and Lorelai. We’ve got the pop culture love, the caffeine addiction, and, sometimes, the fast-talking to prove it. So naturally, we spent a day watching the new show together and enjoyed every minute of it. It was great seeing everyone back in Stars Hollow, the Winter and Fall episodes were especially beautiful and moving, and I’m hoping for more episodes. I mean, did you see that cliffhanger ending?!
Fans of Friday Night Lights need to check this one out, too. This sophisticated and well-done drama is about the firs female in professional baseball but it’s about a whole lot more than, too. The world building is amazing since you really feel like you’re dealing with the ins and outs of baseball. The ten episode first season is already over (SOB) and if you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend it.
Another Netflix gem. Oh Netflix, what would we do without you?! I loved this show this summer (along with everyone else) and am eagerly awaiting the second season.
This sitcom is, in a word, hilarious. The cast is perfect, the jokes are super smart, and every episode seems better than the one before. In fact, I’ve seen every episode twice. That’s how much I love it.
