Ode To The Real Housewives

Confession time.

One of my favourite shows to curl up on the couch with after a long day of work isn’t the latest Netflix show everyone is talking about. It’s not a critically acclaimed drama. It’s not a classic sitcom.

Nope. It’s The Real Housewives.

I have a crazy amount of love for this reality franchise, and I don’t think that’s going to change anytime soon. I watch pretty much every city, from New York to New Jersey to Orange County to Beverly Hills to Dallas. But I have a special place in my heart for the NY, NJ and OC ones.

While some people think these shows are silly and total fluff, I really appreciate them. I totally believe that the Real Housewives can cure anything. Had a bad day? Watch an episode. Come down with an epic cold? Need to laugh? Need to smile? Want to pass the time and be entertained while you’re impatiently waiting for something? This show will seriously cheer you up.

How can you not smile when you hear a quote like that?!

You can call it a guilty pleasure, and that’s how I usually categorize this series, but I really don’t feel guilty about it. At all. Because life is hard sometimes. Life is tiring. And there’s always so much to do. As an only child, I’ve always been pretty independent and have always loved my alone time, and that hasn’t changed as I’ve gotten older. I relish quiet evenings in my apartment when it’s just me and my TV, and most of the time, I’m watching The Real Housewives. Or wishing that I am.

Right now there are three shows on the air right now, so this is basically my dream summer.

If you need me, I’ll be watching Bethenny and her super smart observations, rooting Carol on as she and her boyfriend Adam work on a vegan cookbook, cheering on Teresa as she returns to her home and family life, and hoping that the girls let Vicki back into their hearts.

Hey, it’s a tough job, but someone has to do it.
