What happens when you combine oats with watermelon? Breakfast perfection is the answer. The oats basically get infused with the sweet watermelon and it will definitely wake you up in the morning. I’ve given you different options for toppings, from almond butter to coconut butter to adding other fruit like blueberries, so you can totally customize your bowl and have the summer morning meal of your dreams.


Oats are definitely a favourite breakfast, but sometimes you want to kick it up a notch, and that’s exactly what this recipe offers. Trust me, you won’t regret adding everyone’s favourite summer fruit to your oatmeal! Here’s why: because something totally magical happens. Thanks to the water content in the watermelon, your oats will get super creamy. It’s delicious.

Serves: 1
  • ½ cup gluten-free oats
  • 1 watermelon slice, cubed
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp orange zest
  • Optional add-ins:
  • almond butter
  • coconut butter
  • cinnamon or nutmeg
  • blueberries
  1. Microwave your oats, water and watermelon for 2-3 mins.
  2. Add your orange zest and let sit for about a minute so the orange flavor kicks in.
  3. Add anything you want: nut butter, coconut butter, spices, other kinds of fruit.
